A chance encounter at 35,000 feet has turned into a heartfelt moment of pride and gratitude for former head teacher Chandrika Prasad, who has shared an emotional experience on social media.

Mr Prasad said he was travelling on Fiji Airways flight FJ410 from New Zealand to Fiji when a flight attendant approached his seat during the journey.

“She came down to my seat and said, ‘Sir, are you Mr Prasad, ex-head teacher of SSM (Swami Shraddhanand Memorial School Primary School) Nabua, Suva?’” he wrote.

“I said, ‘Yes.’”

The flight attendant introduced herself as Alumita, a former Class 7 student from the same school Mr Prasad once led. The unexpected reunion, he said, left him overwhelmed.

“I was overwhelmed and proud to meet Miss Alumita — once a Class 7 student of this same school,” Mr Prasad said, describing the moment as a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of education.

The moment did not end there.

Upon arrival at Nadi International Airport, Mr Prasad said Alumita and her fellow flight attendants went a step further to assist him.

“Following the queue, she, together with other air hostesses, gave me a helping hand with my luggage,” he shared.

“Alumita, God bless you abundantly,” Mr Prasad wrote.
