Ba dominates Suva in second match

DEFENDING champions Ba Women FC put on a dominant display as they secured a resounding 12-0 victory against Suva Women FC on day two of the Fiji FA Women’s Inter-District Championship at the Fiji FA Academy grounds in Vatuwaqa yesterday.

The match showcased Ba’s attacking prowess right from the start, with the team taking a commanding 5-0 lead at halftime.

Sisilia Kuladina was in fine form for Ba, netting a clinical first-half hat-trick with goals in the 2nd, 9th, and 28th minutes.

Sereana Naweni also got on the scoresheet for Ba, finding the back of the net in the 18th minute, while Asela Cokanisiga added another goal to Ba’s tally before the break.

Ba continued their relentless attacking display in the second half, with Sereana Naweni completing her brace with goals in the 53rd, 56th, and 90+8th minutes.

Koleta Likuculacula and Elesi Tabunase also got on the scoresheet, contributing to Ba’s impressive goal haul. Suva Women FC’s struggles were further compounded by an own goal from Esther Vunivi and a goal from Joyce Naceva, wrapping up a comprehensive victory for Ba.

Head coach Charlene Lockington praised her players for their performance, crediting them for sticking to the game plan and putting in a strong effort throughout the match.

“It was a great match, all credits go to the players who again stuck to the game plan,” said Lockington.

“From the final whistle till the end, we fought hard, we got few things to improve on, but all in all the girls did well and we look forward for Labasa in our next game.”

Ba will take on Labasa at 1pm today, while Rewa faces Suva at 11am.
