MORE new faces from the McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s are expected to join camp with the Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s team, says head coach Osea Kolinisau.

He shared he had eyed these potential players in Sigatoka last week and thought they deserved to prove themselves in earning a spot ahead of the Singapore 7s at the end of this month.

“There are a few more boys from the Coral Coast that we would like to bring into camp and into the system and I think it is deserving of them to join camp and like I said, the door is always open,” Kolinisau told Times Sport.

He spoke on this and other related aspects after a training session at Albert Park in Suva on Tuesday afternoon.

These new players are expected to be part of the Yaro Chiefs, the men’s champions of the Coral Coast 7s.

Meanwhile, the Yaro players are currently in the Malolo Group to be part of traditional celebrations following last Saturday’s unprecedented victory.

And back in Suva, Kolinisau is aware of the pool of raw talent that displayed itself in Sigatoka last week.

“I know the (McDonald’s) Coral Coast (Fiji 7s) showed a lot of talent out there and especially the teams in the final (Ravuka Sharks and Yaro Chiefs),” he said.

“So we’ll bring some of these (players), not only these new faces but some more new boys will join the squad as well.”

At the training session on Tuesday, players such as Police Blue and former Devo Babas player Akuila Dranivotua and 2024 Paris Olympian Waisake Tewa were spotted with the squad.

“When we come back, everybody is showing that they want to fight for the spot, and you want to see if they have got what it takes to represent Fiji.”
