Fijian in Commonwealth team to observe Bangladesh polls

Fiji will be represented in a high-level international election monitoring mission after the Commonwealth announced the deployment of an Observer Group for Bangladesh’s upcoming parliamentary elections and national referendum.

Fiji is represented in the Observer Group by Miliana Iga Ramatanivai, Coordinator of the Pacific Youth Council. Her inclusion highlights Fiji’s growing role in regional and international democratic and governance initiatives.

Former Ghanaian president Nana Akufo-Addo will chair the Commonwealth Observer Group for Bangladesh’s 13th parliamentary elections.

President Akufo-Addo will be joined by experts drawn from across the Commonwealth with backgrounds in politics, law, media, gender, and election administration.

The mandate of the Commonwealth Observer Group is to assess whether the elections and referendum are conducted in a credible, transparent, and inclusive manner, in line with Bangladesh’s national laws and international commitments.
