The Sawani foot crossing in Naitasiri was recently completed and handed over to the village, providing safer and easier access for 349 residents across 60 households, including women, children, the elderly and persons with disabilities.

Outgoing Minister for Rural and Maritime Development, Sakiasi Ditoka, highlighted how the project strengthened community connectivity and improved preparedness for natural disasters.

He noted that it reflected strong collaboration between the church, vanua and government.

The initiative was part of ongoing efforts by the ministry to engage rural communities, respond to local development priorities, and enhance the effectiveness of government programs.
