Six appear in court over Tavua cocaine seizure

Four Ecuadorian nationals and two local men have appeared at the Rakiraki Magistrates Court this morning in connection with the seizure of 2,630 parcels in Tavua.

Those charged are Bainivalu Suguturaga, 24, unemployed, of Veisaru, Ba and Munendra, 32, a carrier operator of Veisaru, Ba.

Luciano Sanchez, 47, a fisherman from Ecuador; Jonathan Bermello, 30, a fisherman from Ecuador; Ramon Parraga, 52, a fisherman from Ecuador; and Alejandro Gonzalez, 47, also a fisherman from Ecuador.

The six are alleged to be linked to the large seizure of parcels in the Tavua area.

Details of the charges were read out in court, with proceedings still underway.
