People First has been formally registered as Fiji’s newest political party.

This was announced in a statement issued by the Fijian Elections Office yesterday despite objections raised over its name, symbol and constitution.

Registrar of Political Parties Ana Mataiciwa confirmed the party’s application, submitted on November 20, 2025, was approved after all four objections were assessed and dismissed.

“The objections related to the use of the party name, party symbol, and the content of the party constitution,” she said.

“After due assessment, all four objections were dismissed,” Ms Mataiciwa said.

She said the objectors still have 14 days to appeal the decision to the Electoral Commission.”

With the approval of People First, there are now eight registered political parties with the Fijian Elections Office.
