Every youth group emerged a winner at the “Qiri kava” (drum beating) competition, with the Kalekana settlement (Lami) team taking home $1000.
The event organised by ARUKA Fiji was held at the Raiwaqa basketball court on Saturday, where only four of 10 registered teams showed up.
ARUKA Fiji founder, Inoke Drauna said the competition aimed to empower young people and provide a platform for them to showcase their talents while closing off the new year.
He added that the event also served to raise awareness about support services, including child protection and HIV awareness.
Mr Drauna noted that such initiatives help engage youth who are often underrepresented in community gatherings and provide opportunities to access services.
