Ono-I-Lau Sixers claimed victory in the 2025/26 Suva Women’s League final on Saturday at Albert Park in Suva, unseating Nausori Majidez as champions by 22 runs.

Led by Captain Ilisapeci Waqavakatoga, who scored 53 runs and took 3 wickets, the Sixers put on a stellar performance.

Cilia Lewatu’s contribution of 36 runs and 5 wickets further bolstered the team’s success.

Despite efforts from Akosita Levaci and Jasvil Rokoro, who scored 21 and 17 runs for Majidez respectively, they were unable to match the Sixers’ dominance in the first innings.

Sitiveni Rokoro, the chief executive officer, commended both teams for their strong showing in the final, highlighting the growing talent and competitiveness in Fijian cricket.

“It’s great to see the level of skills from both sides, it just gave us a clear idea that Cricket is growing in Fiji, and we hope to expand the level of competition in the country,” said Rokoro.

Looking ahead to the new year, he noted the exciting competitions on the horizon and voiced optimism for the development of players and teams in the coming season.

“We are grateful for a new year; we have a lot of competitions ahead of us and we hope that we keep moving forward and get better in the sport.”

The match not only showcased the skill level of the players but also underscored the potential for cricket to thrive and expand in Fiji, reflecting a bright future for the sport.
