Change is on the horizon for the Fiji Netball Association (FNA) as they recently held a meeting to discuss and draft changes to their constitution.

The meeting, which included 13 members, aimed to create a clear and fair vision for the future of netball in Fiji.

Former Netball Fiji CEO and Oceania Netball Regional director Vivian Koster, expressed the importance of the meeting, stating that it marked the beginning of a new year with hopes of finalising the new constitution.

She praised the work of the 13 members involved in the drafting process, highlighting their commitment to reviewing and making necessary changes to the constitution.

“We started off the new year with what we hope it’s the final draft of our new constitution, it has been a long process,” said Koster.

“We have been thankful, that we have set up the work in group of 13 members, and it has been such a great work, they have really come together, to really look at the constitution, and made the changes that need to be made.”

She mentioned the main focus of the changes revolves around the governance structure of Netball Fiji.

The association plans to transition from an executive committee to a board of management, a move that has been in the works for some time.

“It’s going to be a new structure for Netball Fiji, and a new way of doing things, so we went through things again, and get everything that we want in place for the year.

“The main changes will really be around our governance structure; we want to move aways from the executive committee into a board of management, this has been on our cards from quiet awhile, and so we just putting the processes in place for that.”

Koster emphasised the need for a strong and comprehensive document, free of any loopholes, that reflects the growth and development of all netball clubs and associations in Fiji.

“We have got these great documents in place, and must wanting to make sure, that there are not any loopholes, we want to make it as strong document as it should be and ensure that every Netball club and Association is aiming to see themselves in the document and see their growth.

“It was a really good meeting, it’s been a process, we had few meetings, and each group has taken the drafts and gone and met themselves, so really we are starting the new year with a lot of agreement.”

By creating a robust constitution, the association aims to lay a strong foundation for the future of netball in Fiji.
