WITH the new year underway, the Fiji Golf Club kicked off the season with a successful Stableford event at their Vatuwaqa Golf course yesterday.

A total of 49 players hit the course, showcasing their skills and enjoying the beautiful weather.

The event was sponsored by the club, and long-time member George Nacewa shared his thoughts on the competition.

Having played golf for four years, Nacewa expressed his appreciation for the excellent condition of the course and the ideal playing conditions.

He highlighted the physical activity aspect of golf and the enjoyment he derives from playing the sport.

“This is my fourth year playing golf, I came into golf just for the physical activity, outside from other sports, I really enjoy playing the sport,” said Nacewa.

“It is also a sport where we can all come together and network, people use to think Golf is only for people with business and money, I can say it’s an enjoyable sport.”

As the club embarks on a new year, Nacewa expressed optimism and positivity for the upcoming competitions.

He commended the members for their participation and sportsmanship, predicting a competitive and exciting season ahead.

Nacewa also lauded the youth program initiated by the Fiji Golf Club, recognising the importance of nurturing young talent and ensuring the future success of the club.

“Great to see the Fiji Golf Club members out, and setting a great competition today, and it will be a competitive event as we get through the year.

“We have the youth’s program also that is one great initiative brought in by Fiji Golf club, so we are so blessed to have a great support line for it.

“This year, there will be a lot of competitions lineup, so we look forward to it.”
