Police are investigating the source of a stone that shattered the rear window of the Prime Minister’s official vehicle while it was travelling along the Queens Highway near Namatakula, Sigatoka, early yesterday morning.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight as the government vehicle, registration GT222, was returning to Suva after dropping off Mr Rabuka at Nadi International Airport.
Police said the rear window was damaged after it was struck by a stone, but it remained unclear how the object came into contact with the vehicle.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said investigators were still working to determine whether the stone was deliberately thrown or whether it may had been dislodged or deflected by another passing vehicle.
No injury was reported, and police have not released further details as inquiries continue.
