CLAIMS of bullying and body shaming have been raised against the Miss Fiji Pageant Committee.
Miss Fiji 2025 Dr Peggy Ravusiro told a press conference that comments had been made about her weight and contestants, particularly herself, had been treated in an “unprofessional manner” throughout the pageant process.
She claimed she was told she should lose more weight.
She was told “weight disqualifies me”.
She claimed she was told “that my team during Miss Fiji pageant was a bad team (which included former Ms South Pacific Alisi Rabukawaqa)”.
While acknowledging the importance of strong national representation at regional competitions, Dr Ravusiro said the manner in which concerns were communicated was inappropriate.
“Through the lens of pageantry, we are selling female empowerment.
“From the get, that is not something that you say to the contestant that will represent a nation on a regional stage.”
The Miss Fiji Pageant Committee has not responded to Dr Peggy’s statements. They say they will respond today.
