A family is appealing for urgent assistance for a man who was seriously injured in road accident on Rewa street.
Paul Kamoe is now in a serious condition, suffering from a crushed spine, and remains dependent on critical medical care, states a fund-raising page that has been created in New Zealand to collect money.
The page states Fiji’s healthcare system faces limitations, with essential medical supplies either scarce or prohibitively expensive, adding items such as adult diapers, gloves, wound care materials and other basic necessities are urgently needed but are beyond the family’s financial reach.
“Without these supplies, his dignity and even his chance to survive are at risk,” the page said.
“The sudden need for ongoing medical supplies has placed unbearable pressure on the family, who say even simple items often taken for granted are now out of reach.”
“Every day without these essentials puts him in greater danger and adds immense stress on the family,” they said.
The family is now calling on support from New Zealand and the wider community to help purchase and send life-saving supplies to Fiji as quickly as possible.
Funds raised will go towards adult diapers, wound care products, gloves and other medical supplies, as well as shipping and handling costs from New Zealand to Fiji.
