With the rising cost of living, parents are adopting strategic shopping habits to ensure their children are ready for the upcoming school term.

Ashwini Ram, who was out shopping with her son Arush, says finding value for money is her top priority.

“Today I started to do the shopping from different shops, we have to see where the things are cheap,” she said.

“Because nowadays it’s very expensive.”

Faced with the task of equipping her two children with their school needs, she is opting for a comprehensive approach to ensure nothing is missed.

“I have two children. So I have to do the shopping. I plan to buy all my son’s books, shoes, clothes and even my daughter’s stuff as well.”

To avoid the stress of depleted stock and rising costs, Ms Ram is urging other families to be proactive rather than waiting for the traditional late January rush.

“I don’t think parents should wait for the last minute. They should do their shopping on time.
