Fiji Airways experiencing continued disruption to its evening and overnight flight schedules following the failure of runway lighting at Nadi International Airport yesterday evening.

In a statement, Fiji Airways said it is actively working to recover affected operations after several flights were delayed, diverted or cancelled.

Although the runway lighting has since been restored and the airport reopened, the airline said a number of aircraft and flight crews remain out of position at diversion airports.

“While the lighting has now been restored, a number of aircraft and crews are currently out of position and our teams are working to reposition both aircraft and crew to resume scheduled services as quickly and safely as possible,” the airline said.

Fiji Airways confirmed that flight FJ 810 from Nadi to Los Angeles, scheduled for yesterday was delayed by 8 hours and 20 minutes and departed at 6.00am this morning.

Flight FJ 393 from Nadi to Hong Kong was delayed by approximately 6 hours and 55 minutes, with a revised departure time of 6.25am this morning.

The airline said its teams are in direct contact with all affected passengers to confirm updated travel arrangements.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this disruption may cause. The safety of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority, and we thank our guests for their understanding,” Fiji Airways said.

These included Fiji Airways flights FJ 950, FJ 960 and FJ 274, which diverted to Nausori International Airport, and FJ 910, which diverted to Faleolo International Airport in Samoa.

Two departing flights were also affected. Flight FJ 413, initially scheduled to depart at 8.00pm, departed later at 8.45pm, while flight FJ 915 was cancelled due to the curfew at Sydney Airport.
