HISTORY will be created next Saturday at Eden Park when the first line-up of Bula FC players plays their first professional football game as a team.

Fiji’s first professional football franchise, the Bula FC will face Vanuatu United FC in the opening match of the inaugural OFC Professional League on Saturday at 2pm local time.

The Fiji Football Association being the major shareholder of the franchise is excited for what the future holds for the many young players signed.

Fiji FA CEO Mohammed Yusuf said this is a moment that will be remembered in the years to come.

“It’s historical even because those players marching on to the field at Edem Park at 3pm (NZ time) will go down in history as the first players out of Fiji playing professionally as a team and their names shall never be forgotten,” he said.

It also marks a promising pathway for aspiring footballers to follow.

“This shall inspire the next generation of players who want to be part of this franchise going forward and of course we want to see how they sustain themselves, improve quality, there’s a big fan base created so people can be proud that they are part of the Bula FC fan base team.”

So far, Yusuf said the team is tracking well with preparations and they are happy with the work being put in by the management.
