Rayasi commits to Bordeaux

FIJI Water Flying Fijian fullback Salesi Raiyasi has extended his stay with his current Top 14 club Bordeaux Begles till 2028, despite strong interests from by Bayonne and Stade Français Paris, but he opted to remain at Bordeaux extending his stay for another two years.

The 29-year-old has been in exceptional form since joining the from RC Vannes in July 2025 scoring six tries in eleven matches, his attacking prowess has made him an integral part of the Begles offensive setup, with his trademark Fijian flair and offloads making him a fan favourite at the Bordeaux.

In addition to his exciting club form the former Hurricanes player also had a strong international season with the Flying Fijians where he made a statement in his debut against Australia.

He then went on to win three more caps for Fiji in his debut season and was a reliable option at both defence and attack Mick Byrne coached side.

The 29-year-old burst onto the scene New Zealand at the National Provincial Cup level for Auckland, a team for which he made 53 appearances over five seasons at the provincial club.

In 2019 he scored a try for the Hurricanes on his Super Rugby debut against the Chiefs in a 47-19 win in 2019.

In 2024 he signed with Vannes at the conclusion of the Super Rugby season a move that ended his All-Blacks aspirations but opened the door in following his father’s footsteps as a Flying Fijian.
