LAUTOKA residents staying near the Waiyavi waterfall have been informed to report anyone littering in the area.
The waterfall poses a health risk for swimmers as it is being used as a dumping ground for people and businesses who dispose their rubbish illegally.
Lautoka City Council’s head of services Shalend Singh told this newspaper yesterday a truck was caught red handed last week disposing off rubbish.
“It is a bit challenging as people dump at odd hours,” he said.
“Previously we fined a few as and when they were caught.
“We have asked neighbouring houses to report if they see anyone littering.”
