PARTIES are ready to face head-on in the trial of a man accused of killing Shabreen Shain Ali in Raiwaqa, Suva, in 2024.

Both the prosecution and defence are ready for the trial, scheduled for April 2026, before Justice Pita Bulamainaivalu at the High Court in Suva.

The accused, Anare Vuli Cilicewa, is alleged to have stabbed Ali during an argument before stuffing a condom filled with cloth in her mouth and strangling her to death.

According to previous court proceedings, the State intends to call 29 witnesses, including a pathologist, and both parties agree that the only issue in the trial is the identity of the killer.

Mr Cilicewa is further remanded in custody with the case now adjourned to January 19, 2026.
