ALBERT Park in Suva roared into the new year, with fireworks exploding overhead and music pounding through a packed crowd on the final night of 2025.
Hundreds packed the park for a street-style bash, drawing families and young people from across the Central and Western divisions for the midnight countdown.
Despite the massive turnout, the celebration remained calm and orderly, with police officers, security personnel and ambulances visibly stationed around the venue, reassuring many revellers.
Vatukola resident Akanisi Meo said the strong security presence allowed her family to enjoy the night worry-free.
“We are here to witness the countdown with our children, and we feel safe being here because the police and ambulance are nearby keeping an eye out,” she said.
Young people also praised the work that went into making this year’s celebration one to remember.
Talei Tikoisuva, from Valelevu, said this year’s celebration stood out.
“This is the third year we’ve been coming for the bash, and this one feels safer because more police are here,” she said.
As the clock struck midnight, cheers and applause erupted across the park, ushering in the new year on a high note and setting an optimistic tone for the year ahead.
