The Fiji Police Force has dismissed claims that the investigation into missing drug exhibits from the Namaka Police Station has been closed or marked for “no further action”.

In a statement, police said the investigation, conducted by the Criminal Investigations Department in 2020, was submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions on June 14, 2022, for independent legal advice.

The referral was made to safeguard the integrity of the probe, as the allegations involved police officers.

Police confirmed the file is yet to be returned.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime Mesake Waqa reiterated the call by Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu for responsible use of social media.

He urged users to ensure information shared online is accurate and based on verified facts, not rumours or hearsay. Police warned that misinformation can undermine public trust and ongoing investigations.
