Twenty-year-old Bula FC mid-fielder Fergus Gillion has transitioned well to his new club and is enjoying the Fijian experience.
As one of the few foreign players in the club the former New Zealand U20 rep says everyone has embraced him since he arrived in the country.
In a video posted by the Bula FC media team Gillion shared his presession experience with the club as they prepare for the OFC pro-league.
“This morning was pretty hot in the sun we had a pretty tough session, the body is still tough from last nights session, so it’s been tough trying to get through this one, but the boys are doing well it’s been pretty intense,” he said.
Despite the rigorous training and hot sun Gillion has developed a liking to the local cuisine.
“This is probably one of the best meals I’ve had so far, it’s like some stir fry noodles but yesterday was a close second, we had chicken stew for lunch which was pretty good.” Gillion said.
But probably the best part of the meals is we have some tropical juice, it’s so good that instead of putting in a cup we put it in a big bowl and drink it.”
Raised is football crazy family Gillion’s football career began at his family backyard, playing against his brothers and sisters.
His decision to join the Bula FC was a one supported by friends and family who saw the opportunity as a great elevation to his football career.
“So here I am and I’m absolutely loving it at the moment, it’s very hot but we’re adjusting well and the boys are very welcoming to me and to the other boys as well, so it’s been really fun.”
