National postal service Post Fiji Pte Limited has achieved what it describes as a landmark milestone having all its 58 post offices around the country connected to a centralised online network.
The nationwide digital rollout marks a new era of efficiency, reliability and enhanced customer service, and the transition presenting a multitude of benefits to individuals, businesses and government agencies.
Post Fiji chief executive officer Isaac Mow said connecting every post office from the urban centres to the most remote maritime communities was more than a technological upgrade, but a promise kept to the people in the country.
“This achievement underscores our commitment to bridging the digital divide and ensuring equitable access to essential services,” Mr Mow said in a statement.
“It paves the way for faster, more secure and more convenient transactions for every citizen, wherever they may be,” he said.
Mr Mow said with all post offices online, reaffirmed the company’s role as a vital pillar of national infrastructure, committed to connecting Fijians to essential services, economic opportunity and the world through reliable, modern and accessible postal and financial services.
Some benefits of the nationwide online network include:
– Enhanced efficiency and speed – transactions such as parcel sending, bill payments and money transfers are now processed in real-time, significantly reducing waiting periods and processing times,
– Increased service accuracy – the digital system minimises manual errors in transactions, ensuring greater accuracy in all financial and postal operations,
– Greater financial inclusion – agency banking services, pension payments and money transfer services are now more robust and accessible, supporting financial connectivity in rural and remote areas, and
– Foundation for future services – the network establishes the critical backbone for introducing future innovative services, including e-commerce solutions and digital postal products.
The company has commended the leadership of the board that had been instrumental in driving this critical infrastructure project to completion, and ensurting Fiji’s postal services met the demands of the 21st century.
