Police nab aggravated robbery suspect

A man was taken into police custody, following an aggravated robbery at Millers Wharf in Lami in the early hours of yesterday, while the search continues for his accomplices.

Police said in a statement the incident occurred shortly after 2am at a premises near the wharf.

“The suspect allegedly acted with several other men, who threatened a security guard, before stealing a safe,” police said.

“The group reportedly locked the watchman in his booth before removing the safe and loading it onto a waiting fibreglass boat. CCTV footage later showed the suspects fleeing by sea.”

Police confirmed one man was arrested in connection with the robbery, while investigations continue to identify and locate the remaining suspects.

Initial information indicated that as many as seven men may have been involved.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Police said officers were following up on CCTV footage and other leads as part of ongoing investigations.

Authorities have also appealed for information that can assist in locating the suspects.
