Rewa FC has entered an exciting but challenging phase in it’s football history, as it begins the task of rebuilding following the departure of six of its star players to Bula FC ahead of the inaugural OFC Professional League set to kick off in January 2026.
The loss of key players such as defender Gabriele Matanisiga, former captain Setareki Hughes, and young talents like Josaia Sela and 18-year-old Delon Hari Shankar presents a significant challenge for the Nausori-based club.
These players were central to Rewa’s recent successes and their exit leaves noticeable gaps across the pitch.
Yet, Rewa FC is not dwelling on what has been lost.
Instead, the club is embracing this as an opportunity to trust in its development system and the depth of its wider squad.
In a Facebook post Rewa’s management and coaching staff are confident that the existing players and emerging youngsters within their ranks will rise to the occasion and carry the club forward.
“Our rebuilding starts now,” said the club in a statement. “Trust the process. Be the Tigers,” they said.
Rewa has always been a proud nursery of football talent in Fiji, and this moment serves as a test of its resilience and resolve.
With strong faith in their development pathways and team spirit, the Tigers are determined to bounce back stronger and continue their proud tradition in Fijian football.
As the OFC Professional League approaches, all eyes will be on Rewa FC six former players to replicate their Delta Tiger wininig aura for the Bula FC.
But for die-hard Rewa football fans all eyes will be on how effectively the club can rebuild and maintain their status as one of Fiji’s top footballing sides.
The departure of key players is a setback, but it also marks the beginning of a new dawn for football in the Delta.
