The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has called on pedestrians to be vigilant while crossing roads during the festive season.

This, after a 58-year-old Nadi man died on Boxing Day after he was hit by a bus in Namaka.

In a statement, the authority urged pedestrians “to exercise caution and vigilance when crossing roads, and to cross only at safe points, avoid sudden movements or crossing abruptly, especially in traffic, and to ensure it is clear before stepping onto the roadway”.

The LTA also reminded drivers to stay alert at all times and slow down near pedestrian areas.

Meanwhile, police investigations into the fatal accident continues.
