The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has announced, with deep sadness, the passing of Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services, Dr. Jemesa Tudravu, on Saturday, 27 December 2025.
The ministry said the announcement follows the completion of traditional protocols.
Dr. Tudravu dedicated more than three decades of distinguished service to Fiji’s health sector.
He served as an Orthopaedic Surgeon after completing specialist training at Newcastle Hospital in Australia, and later held senior leadership roles including Medical Superintendent at Lautoka Hospital and the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, Chief Medical Advisor, and Acting Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services.
He was appointed Permanent Secretary in February 2024, a role in which he was widely respected for his humility, integrity, commitment and compassion.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him. We honour his life, his outstanding service, and the legacy he leaves behind,” said Acting Permanent Secretary, Dr. Luisa Cikamatana.
