A swift response from the National Fire Authority (NFA) this afternoon helped avert what could have been a major fire at the Tavua Police Barracks.
The fire was reported at around 5:30pm, and NFA crews arrived at the scene within minutes.
Two flats were affected, but firefighters managed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the residential block.
No injuries have been reported at this stage.
Police and the NFA will conduct a joint investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
