Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth is spending the festive season in Fiji with his family, turning a holiday getaway into a deeply meaningful journey.

The Australian actor, known for his role as Thor, shared snapshots from the tropical trip, showing him surfing, enjoying the beach, and spending quality time with his children and brothers, Liam and Luke.

But it’s the final image that resonates most — Chris, his father Craig, and his brothers standing together on a sunlit Fijian beach, silhouetted against the orange sky.

The photo captures the heart of the actor’s mission: helping his father preserve precious memories.

Craig Hemsworth was recently diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s, the most common form of dementia, which gradually impairs memory and cognition.

In his new Hulu/Disney+ documentary, Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember, the actor shares his efforts to reconnect with his father and make new memories together.

“I feel I’ve been so busy, I probably haven’t spent as much time with my dad as I would want to,” Hemsworth says at the start of the film.

The Fijian holiday allowed the Hemsworth family to step away from their busy lives and focus on creating moments of joy. From surfing and boating to casual family selfies, the trip combined fun with a deeper purpose.

The documentary shows Chris and his 71-year-old father traveling across Australia to revisit formative places in their lives. Prompted by Craig’s diagnosis and Chris’s own genetic predisposition toward Alzheimer’s — he carries two copies of the APOE4 gene — the family explores reminiscence therapy.

This approach uses photos, newspaper clippings, and personal mementos to evoke memories and stimulate storytelling for those living with dementia.

For Hemsworth, the Fiji trip was more than a vacation — it was a chance to cherish family time, preserve treasured memories, and create new ones in a place as beautiful and enduring as the moments they share.
