METHODIST Church of Fiji vice president Reverend Jone Vuto believes the character of Mary, the mother of Jesus, teaches many about the importance of obedience.

He also pleaded with Fijians to look out for one another during this Christmas season as some of our fellow men and women were homeless on the streets, without food, and in need of a mother or father’s love.

“Let’s share the love of Christ and help each other,” he said.

In his Christmas message, Mr Vuto said Mary didn’t hesitate when Angel Gabriel approached her.

Instead, she obeyed and was willing to carry out the call of God.

“It’s a good lesson for us to learn from including our mothers, for us to live the character of obedience like Mary did.

“Jesus’ birth is the beginning of the journey to Calvary because he was born to become man, lived on earth and died so we could live.

“Christmas is about Jesus and his birth. When Adam and Eve committed the sin in the Garden of Eden, all men fell short of the glory of God, but God sent his son to be born, died on Calvary and saved us men.”
