AS Fiji celebrates Christmas, remembering the birth of Jesus Christ, Catholic Church head Archbishop Peter Loy Chong has called on youths to recognise and know that ‘God hears their cries’.

With various social ills from teenage pregnancies to drug issues affecting the nation, Archbishop Loy Chong has reiterated that Christmas is about God.

“If you are taking drugs, know that God loves you,” he said.

“If you experience loneliness and isolation, God loves you, if you experience that no one loves you, God loves you.

“If you are a victim of domestic violence or sexual abuse, God loves you, if you feel left out, Christmas tells you that you are not alone, God is with you.

“You are the beloved of God.

The love of God, Archbishop Loy Chong said, brings healing, unity and reconciliation.

“There is no sin that God cannot forgive, no wound that God can not heal and this Christmas event and message is about God who lovingly hears the cries of people and creation.

“God plans on saving the humankind and the whole of creation from destruction. God through Jesus enters into the brokenness, suffering, and loneliness of our lives.

“Christmas is about God who is love reaching out to us with love.”

Archbishop Loy Chong has stressed that every affected Fijian should know they are the beloved of God.

“God loves us unconditionally. God loves us as we are. God loves us in our suffering, brokenness, failures and mistakes.

“There is no condition for God’s love for us. This Christmas and everyday, we remind ourselves, that I am the beloved of God. God loves you.”
