The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) has announced new requirements for all hand-carried commercial cargo brought into the country by travelling passengers through Nadi and Nausori International Airports.
In a notice issued to airlines, shipping agents, freight forwarders and the general public, FRCS said that all commercial goods carried by passengers will now require specific information to be submitted to a Customs Agent prior to the arrival of the aircraft or vessel.
Under the new procedure, the required information includes the consignee’s Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), the location (Baggage Hall), and a valid invoice.
FRCS said the measure is intended to support the timely registration of the Single Administrative Document (SAD) in ASYCUDA World (AW), improving the efficiency of customs processing on arrival.
Travellers bringing in commercial goods are strongly encouraged to coordinate in advance with their nominated Licensed Customs Agent to ensure smooth and timely clearance of their shipments.
The Service said the simplified procedure is designed to facilitate faster and more efficient cargo clearance, reduce supply chain costs, strengthen compliance with customs regulations, and enhance predictability in the import process for both travellers and consignees.
