ESITA Lobe is a new and enthusiastic member of the South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) program, having joined just few months ago.
Alongside 32 other women, she is part of a growing network of individuals committed to economic empowerment and community development.
Although her journey with SPBD is still in its early stages, it has already made a noticeable impact on her personal and financial growth.
Esita runs a small food stall in Valelevu where she sells a variety of cooked food, including roti parcels and refreshing homemade juices.
Her stall provides her with a source of income to support her family and meet daily needs.
While she has been managing her business with dedication, she credits her involvement with SPBD for expanding her understanding of financial literacy.
“Through the trainings and group meetings, I have learned how to better manage my money, budget wisely, and plan for the future,” she said.
One of the key values of SPBD is working as a team, and Esita acknowledges the strength and challenges that come with being part of a group.
She said there are more than 30 women.
She also shared that one of the ongoing challenges is learning how to move forward together as a group, ensuring that everyone progresses at the same pace.
“Sometimes, aligning everyone’s goals and efforts can be difficult, but we are committed to finding ways to support each other and grow collectively.”
To help maintain their club and strengthen their collective efforts, Esita explained that members contribute a few dollars from their earnings as a group subscription.
These small contributions go toward supporting the ongoing operations of their SPBD club, helping to fund group activities, trainings, or emergencies.
Esita said this system not only encourages financial responsibility, but also reinforces the spirit of shared ownership and support among the members.
“Despite the early challenges, we remain positive and hopeful,” she said.
“With the practical financial knowledge we’re gaining, it has inspired us to continue building our business and working with our group toward greater success.”
Esita believes that with continued effort and co-operation, they will all be able to lift each other up and create lasting change in their lives.
