The South Seas Snooker Club in Lautoka has wrapped up a successful and highly competitive 2025 season, highlighted by its annual awards night held on Saturday night.

According to club director Raymond Reddy, the season was one of the most active in recent years, with the club hosting numerous tournaments and running a ladder ranking challenge throughout the year, keeping players consistently engaged and competitive.

The highlight of the season was the fifth edition of the Trustees Cup, the biggest snooker tournament in Fiji, which featured a prize pool of around $3,000.

Reddy said the standard of competition this year was extremely high, with several players battling for the number one spot on the ladder. Abdul and Raymond Reddy both held the top ranking at different stages of the season, with Reddy sitting at number one for the longest period, while four leading players pushed each other closely throughout the year.

With 26 players actively participating in ladder matches, Reddy said there was a noticeable improvement in performance across the club.

He added that the progress made at club level translated well to national competitions, where South Seas players performed strongly. The improvement was evident with club players competing confidently at national level, including Reddy finishing the year ranked number four in Fiji after reaching finals during the season.

Looking ahead to 2026, Reddy is optimistic that the club will continue to grow. He said the club is aiming for bigger and better tournaments, with a major focus on securing stronger sponsorship to improve prize money and tournament quality.

The goal, he added, is for South Seas Snooker Club to maintain its position as the leading snooker club in Fiji while continuing to develop local talent.

The awards night recognised individual achievements and contributions made throughout the season. Nitesh Chand was recognised for winning the most six-red events and recording the highest break of the year.

Raymond Reddy received the awards for Coordinator of the Year and Best Performing Player, while Navneil Maharaj was named Admin of the Year. Aman Mudaliar was recognised as the Youngest Player, Kumaran Chetty as the Oldest Player, and Savati Natoga received the Most Disciplined Player award.

Jan Mohammed was acknowledged for sponsorship support, while Hafiz Rahman was honoured for 25 years of dedicated service to the South Seas Snooker Club.
