The Fiji Rugby Union is going through a major overhaul at all levels with efforts aimed at aligning with Tier One standards in all facets of the organisation.

For this to happen, the FRU is actively recruiting people with the right expertise to help the organisation elevate to the level it needs to be at.

One of the crucial steps in fulfilling this was having a new strategic plan that aligns to modern-day rugby both on and off the field.

“That plan is aligned with World Rugby, Tier One nations, SANZAAR, aligned with the teams that we are going to compete against in the next couple of months. There is a lot of work to be done for that, it’s also about getting the right people on board,” FRU chief executive Koli Sewabu stated.

“So, over the next couple of weeks, we are going to be making some announcements as well, people who come with the right expertise and the right skill set to take us to the next level.”

According to FRU Board chairman John Sanday, they will be announcing their next team of executives next week.

“That will be the team that will hit the ground running when we hit the new year,” he said.

“We’ve got the biggest year in rugby history next year and in the next 10 years, so it is important to get this right from the process, procedural and legitimacy point of view.”

Sanday revealed that the recruitment process for the chief financial officer has been completed and they have also appointed an acting CEO- these will be announced soon.
