With just four days to Christmas, Fiji police have arrested 29 people for drunk driving over the past 48 hours, including a serving police officer.
Police said traffic authorities have adopted a zero-tolerance approach during the festive season, aiming to prevent accidents and safeguard innocent road users.
Police emphasised that the arrests reflect a dangerous trend of motorists ignoring safety advice, putting themselves and others at serious risk.
Police warned that alcohol overindulgence is not only a threat on the roads but can impact many aspects of daily life.
Authorities urged the public to plan ahead, designate sober drivers, and make responsible choices to ensure a safe and happy festive season for everyone.
