THE Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) is planning changes to strengthen and refresh its domestic competitions following feedback from unions during the 2025 competition review.

FRU chairman John Sanday said the review helped identify weaknesses in delivering a high-quality competition, while also highlighting areas that can be improved to make rugby more exciting for fans.

“We’ve received feedback from the unions on what worked and what didn’t.

“That allows us to build those learnings into our plan for next year.”

He said while the 2025 competition was strong overall, there is room to develop a more vibrant and attractive competition that can better engage the public.

“Our goal is to create a competition that excites the public and takes the Fiji Rugby brand to a higher level in the market,” he said.

Sanday described the proposed changes as exciting and said the focus would be on maintaining the strengths of the 2025 season while improving areas that will help rugby grow both on and off the field.
