Minister for Policing, Iowane Naivalurua, has called on new recruits to embrace “total policing” as they join the Fiji Police Force, emphasizing the importance of service, discipline, and integrity.

His address was delivered at the Basic Recruits Course Batch 68 Passing Out Parade at Nasova Police Grounds.

“You are joining the Fiji Police Force at a time that demands total policing,” Minister Naivalurua said.

“Total policing, yes, total policing… is not an eight-to-four job. It requires the willingness to go the extra mile to serve our people and serve them well.”

He highlighted the expectations placed on officers, noting, “Just last week, the Prime Minister reminded us clearly of the expectation placed on police officers — expectations rooted in professionalism, discipline, ethics, and an unwavering focus on service.”

Minister Naivalurua also stressed the demands of modern policing.

“The demands placed on policing today go beyond training and tactics. They demand strength of character, discipline of the inner self, resilience under pressure, and at times, ultimate sacrifice. You will be scrutinized. We must work hard to earn and keep the trust and confidence of our people.”

He concluded with a powerful charge to the new officers.

“Serve with courage and confidence. Act with restraint. Lead with integrity. Protect without fear.”
