The Fiji Sports Council U20 side began their tournament in dominant style thumping Deveta Brothers 15-nil yesterday morning at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Senior player Lodoviko Tuva said the team was grateful to have began their tournament on a positive note.
“We thank the Lord for the victory, this was what we had talked about before the game, and we’re happy to have executed our game plan well to get this important win,” Tuva explained.
As they prepare for their upcoming games, support play will be an area, they need polishing.
“Support play was not on point in that game we need to work on that, and our defensive structures at our five and ten metre lines, we need to communicate more to fix this problem.” He noted.
Tuva concluded that the players are eager to prove themselves in the competition especially to their sponsors who gave them the opportunity and platform to showcase their talent.
“This has been our plan to try and win this tournament as a way to show our appreciation to our sponsors Fiji Sports Council,” Tuva said.
“And with Christmas coming close, wining the tournament we get to share the prize money helping our families this festive season.
The FSC U20 team is coached by former national rep Isireli Bobo.
