A PERMANENT stay application filed by former finance minister Professor Biman Prasad was called for the first time before the High Court yesterday.
The matter was heard before Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull, who indicated the substantive hearing could be fixed for March 18 and 19 next year.
Prof Prasad was represented by Richard Naidu who informed the court his client intends to apply for an interim stay while the permanent stay application is pending.
Justice Bull said the proposed hearing dates will be confirmed on January 15 when another related matter involving former trade minister Manoa Kamikamica is also scheduled to be called.
The permanent stay application was opposed by FICAC.
Despite this, Mr Naidu maintained his client will be seeking interim relief pending the determination of the substantive application.
Justice Bull acknowledged the submissions and adjourned the matter to January 15 for mention, at which time the court is expected to fix the hearing dates.
