The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a flash flood warning for northern Viti Levu, covering areas from Tavua to Ra.

In a statement, Fiji Met said a flash flood alert remains in force for the rest of the Fiji Group.

According to the update, Tropical Depression TD03F is positioned to the northwest of Yasawa-i-Rara and is expected to pass just north of Fiji.

An associated trough of low pressure, accompanied by rain, is forecast to continue affecting parts of the country until later Friday.

Fiji Met warned that isolated heavy rain could trigger flash flooding.

Potential impacts include flooding of drainage systems, small streams, low water bridges, Irish crossings, roads and properties, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Members of the public, especially those in northern Viti Levu, are advised to remain alert, avoid flooded areas and exercise caution while travelling as weather conditions continue to be monitored.
