The Suva Magistrate’s Court has granted an application by the prosecution to consolidate the drug charges of two former police officers and a 36-year-old man.

The trio are facing charges of importation and possession of 4.7 kilograms of methamphetamine and the unlawful transportation of illicit drugs.

The prosecution told the court that the accused — Sevuloni Lubi, 43, Ratu Lote Lewaivanua, 32, and Alipate Matadigo, 36, — are alleged to have been involved in the same circumstances and had applied for the charges to be consolidated during their last court appearance.

Mr Lewaivanua is also charged with possession of $650, suspected of being proceeds of crime

No pleas were taken and the matter was adjourned to January 13 next year.
