Tropical Depression 03F remains slow moving to the far northwest of Fiji, close to Vanuatu, maintaining unsettled weather across the region.
Vanuatu Meteorology and Geo-hazards Department forecast shows the system briefly attained a category one tropical cyclone status at 6am today.
It is forecasted to weaken again by this evening as it approaches Fiji.
While the system is not expected to intensify dramatically, its proximity continues to bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and flood risks to northern and western Fiji, keeping communities and authorities vigilant.
Forecasts to midnight tonight indicate occasional to periods of rain over most areas, with heavy falls at times and a few thunderstorms. Persistent heavy rain may lead to flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Moderate north to northwest winds are expected, becoming fresh and gusty in areas of heavy rain, with seas ranging from moderate to rough.
The outlook for Wednesday remains unsettled, with rain and thunderstorms continuing across most parts of the country.
Further persistent heavy falls may again result in flash flooding of low-lying areas.
Winds are forecast to be moderate to fresh from the southeast to northerly directions, gusty at times, with moderate to rough seas.
