THE Nasinu Volleyball Alliance (NVA), in partnership with the Fiji Sports Council (FSC), is excited to announce the Rooster Chicken Volleyball Grassroot Development Festival, a massive two-day tournament designed to uplift the standard of volleyball across Fiji and engage emerging talent.
NVA president Mataiasi Daulako says preparation is going extremely well, with teams confirmed from the West, North, and the Central Divisions all gearing up for the high-intensity competition.
“We thank the Fiji Sports council for initiating and to collaborate with Nasinu Volleyball Alliance (NVA) in the Volleyball Grassroot Development Festival and we thank Rooster Chicken for coming on board as our main sponsor, whose support has elevated the tournament to a new level,” said Daulako.
“The goal is to lift the standard of volleyball by offering a massive prize money pool that encourages vigorous training.
“This initiative uses sport to positively engage youth, diverting them from crime and drug use, while giving grassroots players and clubs the opportunity to compete at a high-level facility.
“By having this Grassroot Volleyball Festival, Clubs and players will be given an opportunity to show case their skills and compete with huge prize money.
“This plan was mooted early last year and beginning of this year between Fiji Sports Council CEO Gilbert Vakalalabure and Nasinu Volleyball Alliance (NVA) in ways we can assist each other to developing and nurture Volleyball into a major sport in Fiji.
“Fiji has greater chance of getting a medal in Olympics in volleyball beach. With this initiative it will broaden our task to ensure we prepare our players and teams well before entering to FVF sanctioned tournament giving an opportunity to the untap and unseen skills at the grassroots level.”
Daulako mentioned there are 18 men’s and 12 women’s teams confirmed so far.
Teams like Police Blue (Vulaca Champion 2024), Avengers who was the latest finalist during the FVF Interclubs 2025 held in Novemeber, Redline, Tuatua from Labasa, Kinoya Heartland winner of last year Interclub 2024 and Gold Jets from Nadi have secured their spots.
The event will be held at FMF Gym and car park on Thursday and Friday.
