The fate of a former policeman accused of raping a friend last year will be known two days before Christmas.
The matter was listed for judgment yesterday before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere, but it was adjourned to December 23.
The married father-of-two is charged with raping a 26-year-old woman at the Valelevu police single men’s barracks on May 26 last year.
The accused is maintaining his not-guilty plea.
On May 30 last year, the man appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele in Nasinu, who transferred the matter to the High Court.
His lawyer, Olive Grace, has requested for the verdict be delivered in January, but the judge opted to deliver his decision before Christmas.
