OPTIMISM and unity are two key themes that the Loloma Heights under-21 team has operated on as they aim to make a mark in the Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s in Taveuni..
The team is made up of youths living around the Urata area on the outskirts of Savusavu and began their campaign for greatness yesterday.
They won 12-0 over the Varon Golden Eagles in their first pool match and were defeated 0-26 by Fiji Seasalt Taveuni Select 1 in their second pool match.
Speaking on behalf of the side, manager Viliame Rasekaseka said the team had prepared diligently in the lead-up to the second stop of the Fiji Bitter 7s series.
“We had just finished a 15s tournament before this and the players came from various teams to play for Loloma Heights and they remained to play for our 7s side,” Rasekaseka explained.
Fitness and preparation levels were at high levels since they had concluded a tournament of their own two weeks ago.
“We are now in Taveuni and our preparations proceeded smoothly from last week.”
He added with a devotion towards refining their level of play, he was optimistic of how the team would finish at the Wairiki 7s.
“We are hopeful that we will end the tournament on a high note after the next three days.”
Rasekaseka thanked the team’s sponsors and their families for their support.
They faced the Village Boys in their final pool match at 5.15pm.
The Loloma Heights team is grouped in Pool 3 with Fiji Seasalt Taveuni Select 1, Village Boys, and Varon Golden Eagle.
