Suspended Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde’s application for judicial review of the suspension of his salary and benefits should be expedited because his employment contract expires in March 2026, says his lawyer Ashnil Kumar Narayan.
At yesterday’s hearing, the State requested the matter be vacated because the Solicitor-General had a personal matter to attend to. Mr Narayan told Justice Savenaca Banuve he sympathised with the situation but given the impending expiry of Mr Pryde’s contract, delays should be avoided.
Justice Banuve agreed with Mr Narayan’s proposal for an expedited submission, directing that parties file simultaneous submissions by December 12.
A decision on the leave application will be made on December 22.
