As the eldest in the family choosing football over university is a life changing decision, for midfielder Nabil Begg this decision has paid off big time, as his professional football career is set to kick off with the Bula FC.

As the eighth signing for the Bula FC, Begg has credited the support of his family as the pillar behind his football success.

“I feel very blessed. It’s not easy for island boys to get a professional contract, so now that I’m given the opportunity, I’m going to give everything,” he said.

“I’ll work hard, represent my family and make the most of this opportunity.”

Raised in the soccer crazy town of Ba, Beg’s love for football developed early, at the age of five he was kicking his first football with his brothers around the backyard.

This passion grew stronger as he represented his Varavu Primary School in the U12 and 14 grades.

In high school he was pivotal part of his Kamil Colleges U16 and U18 teams.

But his football career took a decisive step at the age of 15, when the young midfielder caught the eye of former Ba head coach Kamil Swamy, who brought him to the Ba Senior team after he lit up the pitch at the NCC tournament.

After making his Ba debut at the age of 16, Begg football career took off and has since taken him to the U20 world cup, the U23 team and the national squad.

As he embraces another exciting chapter of his football career, Begg is banking on his families support once more to help him light up the pitch at the OFC League next year.
