A Fiji parliamentarian is part of a six-member delegation from Australia, New Zealand and Fiji visiting Dharamshala, India, from 9 to 12 December 2025, where they will meet His Holiness the Dalai Lama and engage with Tibetan leaders.
The four-day programme includes an audience with the Dalai Lama and meetings with the Central Tibetan Administration’s leadership, including Sikyong Penpa Tsering and Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile Khenpo Sonam Tenphel.
The group will also tour key cultural and educational institutions in Dharamshala.
The delegation will join Tibetans worldwide on 10 December to commemorate the 36th anniversary of His Holiness receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, coinciding with World Human Rights Day.
The visiting group includes Australian Greens Senator Barbara Pocock, Labor MP Sarah Witty, Independent MP Kate Chaney, New Zealand MPs Duncan Webb and Greg Fleming, and Fiji Independent MP Virendra Lal.
